Michael Bolton Impressed With Venue, Orchestra At Lancaster Festival
< < Back to michael-bolton-impressed-venue-orchestra-lancaster-festivalMichael Bolton said he was very impressed with both the Lancaster Campus venue and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra after performing on the Wendel Concert Stage Saturday night.
“It was a beautiful location,” said Bolton. “It was a really great night.”
The multiple Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter did a meet-and-greet with about 30 fans in the Lancaster Campus student lounge immediately following the concert. He also signed books and CDs near the stage after that.
Bolton has had eight studio albums rank in Billboard’s Top Ten, with nine #1 singles. During the show, he performed several of his hits with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra, with his voice booming across the natural amphitheater on OUL’s back lawn.
“The orchestra and Maestro Gary Sheldon were just fantastic,” said Bolton. “They were spot-on.”
Bolton told the crowd during the show that he wished he could take the orchestra on the road with him, but there were too many to fit into the tour bus.
Ohio University Lancaster and the Lancaster Festival have been working together on the summer musical event for more than 25 years. Several festival events are held at the Lancaster Campus venue.
The Bruce Springsteen cover band Bruce in the USA will perform at OUL Wednesday night and American Idol’s Crystal Bowersox will perform the festival finale at the same location Saturday, July 27. Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis will perform on the Herrold Hall patio at OUL on Friday, July 26.
