Women’s Golf Second at Lady Colonel Classic
< < Back toLed by Hailey Hrynewich, who claimed her first college tournament win, Ohio women’s golf took second place at the Lady Colonel Classic at the Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, Ky., on Saturday.
After poor weather conditions shortened the 54-hole event to an 18-hole contest, Hrynewich’s score of 72 through 18 was tied with Eastern Kentucky’s Sofie Levin. The two went to a playoff and the Bobcat sophomore won on the event on the first extra hole.
The second-place ‘Cats finished 19 over with a 307 final score.
Julie Lechner and Lily Pendy tied for 13th place after shooting five over par at 77. Both recorded two birdies on the day.
Angela Codian also managed two birdies in her 34th-place finish. She shot an 81. Behind her with a score of 83 and finish at 39 was Lauren McKinzie.
As an unattached competitor, Jessica McRae shot 88 for a share of 65th.
Of the 12 competing teams, the Bobcats finished the best on par fours, with a +10 score. They finished in the top six on par threes and fives. The Green and White’s 10 birdies were second only to Ball State’s 11. Hrynewich recorded four of Ohio’s total.
She also finished two strokes under on par fours. Pendy was a stroke under on par fives.
Eastern Kentucky played host and won the event with a 303 score.
Ohio’s next competition is the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by the Bowling Green Falcons. The two-day event tees off on Saturday.
