Trial Date Set For Day Care Operator
< < Back to trial-date-set-day-care-operatorA December trial is set for a Wood County, West Virginia day care operator charged in the death of a child who was left in a hot car.
A Wood County grand jury indicted Kenneth Rockhold Sr., 64, of Belleville earlier this month on a charge of child neglect resulting in death.
Rockhold pleaded not guilty this week. His trial is set for Dec. 10.
Rockhold is accused of leaving 4-year-old Mercedes Wise unattended in a vehicle on Aug. 30, 2012. The girl was found dead in the vehicle. The temperature reached 89 degrees that day.
The girl's mother, Shawna Wise, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in September 2012 against Lester and his wife, Linda Rockhold.
