Trailer Park May Become New Parcel

An ordinance is expected to be introduced at Monday’s Athens City Council meeting that would vacate the subdivision where the former Pine-Aire Village trailer park was located near The Plains.
The Athens Planning Commission has recommended that Council take action to repeal the 1977 ordinance that created what was then called Valley Acres Subdivision. Tom Parfitt and Brent Hayes, who purchased the trailer park in 2012, are seeking to have the subdivision vacated and the property restored to one parcel.
The property is within the city’s three-mile jurisdiction.
The topic was discussed briefly at Monday’s meeting of Council’s Planning and Development Committee. Chairwoman Chris Fahl indicated she will introduce an ordnance at Monday’s regular Council meeting.
