Parkersburg To Play At Stadium Field Friday
< < Back to parkersburg-play-stadium-field-fridayThe Parkersburg Big Reds will have home-field advantage once again.
School officials say the ongoing project to renovate the home bleachers in Parkersburg High School’s Stadium Field will be complete for Friday night’s game when the Big Reds take on Capital.
The Stadium Field Committee’s goal of hosting games in Memorial Stadium during the 2013 season would not have been reached without the support of the community. The biggest roadblock throughout the renovation process was money, as the estimated cost of the project nears 1.9 million dollars. However, members of the community stepped in and helped with a lot of the fundraising.
The Stadium Field committee was running out of money to complete the renovations, and if it was not for the help of the community, school officials say the Big Red would not have played a home game this season.
Fire marshals were at Memorial Stadium Monday to evaluate the condition of the bleachers, and they will make another visit to the stadium Thursday for one more inspection.
The Stadium Field committee still needs to pay off a $600,000 loan, but the next step in the renovation process will to be to evaluate the visitor’s side of the bleachers for next year.
The news about this Friday’s game has the entire community buzzing. With the entire school and community supporting them, the Big Red are anxiously awaiting for Friday night.
