Church Approved Blessings For Same Sex Couples
< < Back to church-approved-blessings-same-sex-couplesThe leader of West Virginia's Episcopals says he has approved the opportunity for church blessings for same-sex couples starting later this year.
Bishop Michie Klusmeyer tells The Charleston Gazette the ceremonies will start on December 1.
Klusmeyer says the priest in charge and the congregations of the individual churches must decide whether the blessings can occur.
He also says couples must be baptized and active members of a congregation for a minimum of six months.
Klusmeyer announced the decision over the weekend at a three-day convention of the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia in Flatwoods.
