Officials Urge Patience During Seasonal Transition

Ohio University officials are urging patience as the university begins its annual transition from cooling to heating.
In an email messege sent to the university community Mike Gebeke, executive director of Facilities Maintenance said the Athens campus is not on full heating mode.
“Certain buildings only have systems that allow heating and cooling at one time,” Gebeke wrote in the email. “These systems cannot be turned off and on in a day. Right now, the cooling system will remain on until the temperatures are forecast to be too cold to require cooling.”
Gebeke said there will be buildings on campus that will be cooler on days when the temperatures are lower than 60 degrees. Facilities Management said it is working to determine the best time to start up the heating systems on campus.
