Women’s Golf: Ohio Finishes Sixth At The Preview
< < Back to womens-golf-ohio-finishes-sixth-previewThe Ohio women’s golf team held its ground from the first day The Preview and finished the two-day event in sixth place after shooting a team score of 315 on Tuesday.
The team improved its score from round one by 11 strokes, but did not move in the standings.
Kristen Helmdoerfer shot a 78 in both rounds of the competition, making her +12 and put her in a tie for the 11th best score among individual golfers.
Kara Brinkmann was +9 in the second and final round. The senior shot for par 22 times over the course of two rounds, the second highest total of the tournament behind Ball State’s Jenna Hauge and Eastern Michigan’s Kelsey Murphy.
Hailey Hrynewich bounced back from shooting +12 on Monday to recording a +4 in round two, Ohio’s best score of the day. Hrynewich’s total after two rounds was equal with Brinkmann’s +16. Both women were stuck in a six-way tie at 22nd overall on the individual leaderboard.
Angela Codian improved by five strokes from her first round, with a +8 on Tuesday and scoring a combined +21 through two rounds.
Lauren McKinzie and Julie Lechner rounded out the Bobcats’ day, shooting +11 and +15, respectively. Both McKinzie and Lechner improved their first round scores by one stroke.
Ohio will have less than a week to prepare for its final event of the fall season, The Rocket Classic, which will begin on Monday, Oct. 14 in Port Clinton, Ohio.
