Trimble Sprints Past Wahama
< < Back to trimble-sprints-past-wahamaAnother night, another big performance from Justice Jenkins.
But what else is new?
Jenkins piled on 279 yards on 29 carries, scoring five times during Trimble’s (4-1, 4-0) 46-14 blowout win against Wahama (2-3, 1-3).
The Tomcats came out of the gates quickly, scoring twice before a wacky Wahama response. White Falcon wide receiver Bryton Gate came a few yards away from a 42-yard touchdown score before he fumbled the ball into the end zone. Fortunately for him, a teammate jumped on the ball to secure the score.
With the exception of that play, the passing game was a non-factor in some very sloppy conditions, making the rushing game all the more important. Wahama’s Phillip Hoffman finished 10-of-24 through the air for 136 yards, but a slick football accounted for drops on many catchable passes.
That kind of game plays into Trimble’s wheelhouse and the Tomcats took advantage, accumulating a 33-8 lead before halftime.
Trimble will meet Southern (3-3) next week while Wahama will have a legetmiate chance against a struggling Eastern (2-4) team next Friday. Federal Hocking. Wahama has a good chance to rebound from this loss when they take on a subpar Eastern team on the road next Friday.
