Internet Security Is a Major Concern of American Media Corporations
< < Back to internet-security-is-a-major-concern-of-american-media-corporationsInternet security is one of the top corporate challenges in the 21st Century – especially for media companies that handle confidential information from multiple sources.
Media companies also process major data sets of information from multiple sources and must provide security for that often sensitive information.
The E. W. Scripps Company, owner of 33 television stations and 34 radio stations across the nation, is becoming more and more determined to increase internet security for corporation information. It is a major corporate initiative.
Bob Carson, Vice President and Chief Information officer, for Scripps and Mike Kelly, the company’s first Chief Information Security Officer, recently talked with WOUB’s Tom Hodson about Scripps’ efforts at keeping its data untouched by outside hackers.
Carson assumed his current position in 2008. His career has spanned 30 years and he has been with Scripps for over two decades. He is responsible for the company’s enterprise technology strategy and operations.
He serves on the Northern Kentucky University College of Informatics IT Leadership Forum and is on the Advisory Board of the J. W. McClure School of Information and Telecommunication Systems in the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University.
Kelly is the main advisor to senior corporate leadership on information security. He also is responsible for managing the information security function from the development of strategy through daily operations.
Kelly is a former Senior Manager of Global Information Security, Risk Management and Compliance at Dana Limited, a Fortune 500 company.
He also addresses numerous professional and academic seminars on the topic of information security.
