Ohio Field Hockey Falls 1-0 To Ball State
< < Back to ohio-field-hockey-falls-1-0-ball-stateOn Saturday, Oct. 26, Ohio Field Hockey (6-9, 2-2) traveled to Muncie, Ind., where they lost in a 1-0 match to Ball State (6-10, 1-3).
Ohio came onto the field with a clear goal in mind as it had six shots in the first 10 minutes thanks to a combined effort from Jessica Jue, Adele Sammons, Luli Gomez Teruel and Franziska Schmiedel.
Teruel led the team with a season high of seven shots, five of them being on goal.
Another consistent contributor for the Ohio offense was Jue, having five shots in her 64-minute performance, three of which were on goal.
Bobcats goalkeeper Brittany Walker had two saves, and only allowed one shot to hit the back of the net by Ball State’s Bianca Velez off of a penalty corner in the 59th minute.
With 15 minutes left to play after Ball State scored, Ohio managed to have seven more shots and one penalty corner, proving that the ‘Cats weren’t willing to be put away easily.
The Bobcats held a distinct advantage on offense a with a total of 19 shots and 11 penalty corners, as opposed to Cardinals’ six shots and three corners. Although many opportunities presented themselves, the ‘Cats were unable to capitalize and have a shot pass the crease.
Ohio will return to Athens on Saturday, Oct. 27, to challenge the Kent State Golden Flashes at Pruitt Field at 1 p.m. Kent is currently 7-8 overall, and undefeated in the Mid-American Conference with three wins.
