Eastern Eagles Look to Improve

The Eastern Eagles ran into the tough Alexander Spartans at the TVC Boys Preview on Saturday, losing 40-18. Although the Spartans were tough competition, the Eagles struggled both offensively and defensively during the match up.
Eastern struggled with turnovers in the matchup, which undoubtedly had a huge effect on the final score.
Head coach Jeremy Hill returns this year in hopes of improving the team’s record, which featured just two wins last year. Coach Hill says that in terms of improvement, he really wants to focus on “The fundamentals of the game,” and if they can master this, then they will definitely improve this season.
Although senior Dillon Swatzel struggled with injuries last year, he is expected to be one of the Eagles’ strongest players this year. He brings height to the team with his 6’3 statute, and showed what he could bring to the court offensively on Saturday.
Chase Curtis is expected to be another key player for the Eagles this season. He showed improvement at the preview and will hopefully continue to do this throughout his senior season. This year Curtis will be looked at as a potential leader for the Eagles.
There is only room for improvement this season for Eastern. They have shown they have the drive and ambition to get better. Their motivation will undoubtedly be displayed on the court this upcoming season, through seniors such as Swatzel and Curtis.
The Eagles begin the season Nov. 27 on the road against the River Valley Raiders. The following game kicks off TVC-Hocking play for Eastern against Miller Dec. 4. Key games for the Eagles will be their matchups with Federal Hocking on Jan. 8 and Feb. 9, which are winnable games for Eastern and will be crucial in its team turn around this season.
