DMAX plans to invest $82 million at its Moraine plant that makes diesel engines for heavy-duty trucks, including the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
GM says its plans hinge on approval of state and local incentive.
The automaker says DMAX has produced nearly 1.7 million engines since opening in 2000.
GM says the plant underwent a $60 million investment last year for design changes that will allow the engines to meet future emissions standards.
