Fire At Central Ohio Warehouse Contained
< < Back to fire-at-central-ohio-warehouse-containedCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Firefighters say they have contained a massive fire at warehouse in central Ohio but expected to stay at the scene throughout the day as they worked to extinguish it.
No injuries were reported in the blaze that lit the skies for miles along I-70 in Columbus early Monday and led two schools to cancel classes.
Authorities say firefighters responded to an alarm company call about 3:30 a.m. More than two-dozen fire trucks and 75 firefighters were sent to help fight the fire and prevent its spread to other buildings.
Firefighters on the scene initially said they were having problems getting enough water to put on the fire.
Battalion Chief Tracy Smith says that no hazardous materials were inside the building that contained mostly lawn work equipment, pallets and cardboard.
