After a tough couple of losses in a row against Alexander and Nelsonville-York, the Meigs Lady Marauders (8-10, 3-7) struggled to gain back their vengeance tonight against the Vinton County Lady Vikings (13-4, 7-2). Meigs allowed the Lady Vikings take it away in the second half ending in another loss 52-36.

Lady Marauder guard Madison Hendricks came out hot tonight scoring eight of the 14 points in the first period for Meigs. She totaled 10 points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Kassidy Betzing started the game off slow missing most of her shots but began to fire up at the end of the second half. She scored a field goal and two rebounds all with just one minute left of play in the half.

Vinton County took over the game in the third quarter leaving Meigs fighting to stay in the game. Meigs struggled on defense as the Lady Vikings’ offense dominated at the arc with faster passes and quicker rebound recoveries than Meigs was ready for. With just three minutes left in the third, Meigs put points on the board for the first time in the quarter with a three pointer followed by a two to trail Vinton County 40-30.

Vinton County’s Jalen Hale lead the Lady Vikings the whole game but that wasn’t enough. She proved unstoppable in the final quarter scoring ten of the 12 total points for Vinton County and ultimately taking the game away.

Leading scorers for Meigs were Madison Hendricks with 11 points.

Jalen Hale led the Vikings with 24 points, 15 rebounds and three steals. Michaela Puckett followed with 12 points.

The Lady Marauders will look to get back on the right track with a visit to our Athens Bulldogs Thursday, Jan 28. Vinton County will travel to Minford on Wednesday, Jan. 27 in hopes of another win to move ahead of Nelsonville-York and dominate the TVC-Ohio.
