Richardson Leads Spartans Past Buckeyes
< < Back to richardson-leads-spartans-past-buckeyesSeth Richardson eclipsed the 1,000 point mark during the fourth quarter Friday night as the Alexander Spartans defeated the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes 58-37 at The Alley.
Richardson scored 12 points in a game he is sure to remember for the rest of his life.
“It’s something they like to give individual awards for, but it’s a time thing. Without the team there giving the assists and coach having the trust to put you on the court,” Richardson said. “It’s all a team game; basketball is not an individual game,”
Other than Richardson’s milestone game, Jake Weaver was the one to stand out on the score board with 16 points. The Spartans dominated on the board with 24 total rebounds.
Both teams struggled keeping the ball in their position. N-Y finished with 18 turnovers and Alexander wasn’t far behind with 17.
Something that Nelsonville-York has been struggling with all year is its depth. The team only finished with one bench point during the game. The Buckeyes starters also struggled putting up stats. Noah Andrews scored a 3-pointer in the first 10 seconds of the game, but had no action for the rest of the night. Aron Davis led scoring with 14 points and Hunter Edwards had 11. However, no one else on N-Y’s roster scored more than three points. The Buckeyes made a run in the third quarter to close the gap but could not get their offensive game together.
This win puts Alexander to a six game winning streak. The Spartans will play at Wellston on February 2nd. Nelsonville-York will face River Valley on January 30th.
