< < Back to residents-try-to-develop-new-waste-reduction-strategiesLOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Louisville officials are asking residents to help it develop a strategy for reusing goods and materials in an effort to reduce reliance on landfills.
A statement from the Metro Public Works department says citizens are invited to meet with businesses and organizations on Feb. 16 for the kickoff of the Reuse Collective Impact Committee.
The committee will use ideas from the meeting to come up with ways to get materials that can be reused into the right hands so they aren’t put in the trash.
The initiative is part of a plan by Mayor Greg Fischer to reduce landfill use by 90 percent by 2042.
