Diving Stays Consistent In Mike Peppe Invite
< < Back to diving-stays-consistent-mike-peppe-inviteIn the midst of its winter training trip to the Sunshine State, the Diving team competed in the Mike Peppe Invite in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Jan. 3.
Being outside offered a different competition environment for the ‘Cats as both temperature and wind were working against them, according to diving coach Russ Dekker on OhioBobcats.com.
“I thought the girls handled the bad weather conditions very well and remained focused on the things that they could control," Dekker told OhioBobcats.com.
Kristin Capcik led the Bobcats, as she came in third place, scoring a 268.5. Following right behind her at fourth was teammate MaryRose Hillstrom, who scored a 262.9.
Next to place for the Bobcats was Morgan Srail, earning a 258.4, then followed by Haleigh Bartlett as she posted a 252.65, giving them sixth and seventh place, respectively.
This strong showing by the ‘Cats made them the highest scoring team the duration of the meet, and Dekker was content with the quality of training during their break.
The Diving team will return to the boards on Jan. 11, as it travels with the Swimming team to Denison to compete against the Big Red. The dual meet will begin at 1 p.m.
