Three Ohio Players Named To OCSA All-Academic Third Team
< < Back to three-ohio-players-named-ocsa-all-academic-third-teamThe Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association announced its Academic All-Ohio teams, and the Ohio Bobcats had three players – defenders Grace Campbell and Gabby Hausfeld and midfielder Maggie Murnane – get named to the Academic All-Ohio Division I Third Team.
As a team, the Bobcats posted a 3.30 team grade point average, which helped them earn the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award.
Murnane, an exercise physiology major with a 3.93 GPA, scored three goals and dished out two assists her senior season. The captain was Academic All-MAC her junior year and finished her two-year career at Ohio with five goals.
Campbell continued to be a force in the backline for the Bobcats, starting in 15 games and combining with Hausfeld to help the Bobcats record five shutouts this past season. The applied nutrition major has as 3.69 GPA through two years at Ohio University.
Hausfeld led the Bobcats with 20 starts her junior year, as the central defender recorded a team-high 1,852 minutes played. The biological sciences and psychology major was named to the Academic All-MAC team in 2012 and has a 3.41 cumulative GPA.
The Bobcats qualified for the Mid-American Conference Tournament for their fifth straight season, but were knocked out in the first round by No. 1 Eastern Michigan.
