Ohio Gains Series Edge With 5-2 Defeat Of Iowa State

In their third meeting of the season, No. 6 Ohio defeated No. 7 Iowa State 5-2 on Friday night at Bird Arena.

The win propelled the Bobcats to 2-1 against the Cyclones in the season series, and improved their overall record to 22-6-1.

Sophomore Michael Harris opened the game's scoring at 12:19 of the first period, and would eventually add two assists in the game for a three-point night against the Bobcats' CSCHL opponent.

The second period was scoreless, while the third period was won by Ohio 4-2. Nathan de la Torre, Matt Hartman, and Mike Kretz scored in succession for Ohio to take a 4-0 lead before Chase Rey and Jon Feavel popped in two goals for the Cyclones.

Liam Geither sealed the victory with an empty net goal in the final minutes of the contest, reaching the game's final score of 5-2.

Ohio will take on Iowa State again on Saturday night at 7:30 at Bird Arena in Athens, Ohio.
