Jennifer Davidson Rape Trial Moved To Spring
< < Back to davidson-trial-moved-springAn Albany woman charged with raping a 10-year-old girl has agreed to waive her speedy trial rights and won't be tried until May at the earliest.
In a hearing Wednesday before Judge George McCarthy in Athens County Common Pleas Court, Jennifer Davidson, 37, agreed to a waiver of her speedy trial right so that her counsel and the prosecution could prepare for a May trial.
Because of the cold weather, McCarthy said the court felt it would "have difficulty" impaneling a jury for the trial, which was scheduled to begin on Tuesday of this week.
Davidson is charged with two counts of rape of a 10-year-old girl and a count of kidnapping the girl for the purposes of engaging in the alleged sexual conduct, according to previous Messenger reporting.
Davidson was arrested in June and has been incarcerated on an unrelated theft case, for which her diversion was revoked. She is currently being held on a $500,000 bond with 10 percent allowed.
