OU Ready to Host Series of Black History Month Events

The Ohio University Multicultural Center will celebrate Black History Month in February by offering a wide range of entertaining and educational events including guest speakers, film screenings, educational programs and student performances.
The month-long celebration was created to recognize the significant achievements and contributions of African-Americans to the world. Scheduled events include:
• Feb. 1: A Soul Food Cook-Off will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. in Baker University Center 205.
• Feb. 5: HIV/AIDS advocate Kenyon Farrow will speak at 7 p.m. at the Baker University Center Theatre.
• Feb. 7: The Black Student Cultural Programming Board and UPC will host the “Apollo Night Variety Show” at 7 p.m. in the Baker University Ballroom. Admission is $2.
• Feb. 8: The Black Student Cultural Programming Board and UPC will host the “Sibs Weekend Carnival and Roller Rink” from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
• Feb. 11: Rev. John Williams will visit campus to speak and screen the film Negroes with Guns at noon in Alden Library 319.
• Feb. 13: Black Love Day will be hosted at 7 p.m. in Baker University Center’s Front Room.
• Feb. 16: The second annual “Black Girls Rock” awards will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Baker University Center Theatre.
• Feb. 20: The Black Student Union hosts “Harlem Nights Open Mic” in the Baker University Center Front Room from 6 to 8 p.m.
• Feb. 27: The Black Student Union will host “Black History Month Jeopardy” from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Baker University Center Multicultural Center.
