Kentucky's "Creation Museum" will play host Tuesday night to a debate between Answers In Genesis CEO Ken Ham and scientist Bill Nye, known from his days as a PBS television presenter as "The Science Guy." Ham will take the side of creationism, the belief that man was created by God, and Nye will defend evolution, the belief that different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. Nye spoke at Murray State University Monday in advance of the debate, which you can watch live online. According to WKMS:

“Does Ken Ham’s creation model work? I don’t think it does," Nye said. "He has all kinds of just remarkable inconsistencies in his world view, and we’ll bring that up. But he’s a passionate guy. He believes in what he’s doing. I respect him for that.” While on campus, Nye commended Kentucky’s implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards in public schools. “You don’t want the commonwealth of Kentucky – which is now, by the way, 37th in science education. You don’t want it to fall further behind," Nye said.

Nye and Ham agreed to the debate in December, more than a year after Nye released the video entitled "Creationism Is Not Appropriate For Children" and Ham responded to the man he calls "The Humanist Guy".

The debate will be held at 2800 Bullittsburg Church Rd. in Petersburg, Kentucky about seven miles west of the Cincinnati Airport.

The debate begins Tuesday at 7 p.m. EST.
