Drummond To Sit Out Against Ohio Following DUI

Toledo Rockets leading scorer Justin Drummond has been suspended for Wednesday’s game against the Ohio Bobcats after being charged with driving under the influence on Saturday.
“Although I remain 100 percent supportive of Justin, our players are held to high standards,” Toledo head coach Ted Kowalcyzk said in a release. “As a result, Justin will not play in Wednesday’s game vs. Ohio.”
Drummond recorded 12 points, three rebounds and five personal fouls against the Bobcats on Feb. 1, but leads the Rockets with 14.6 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game on the season. In addition to leading statistically, Kowalcyzk commented on Drummond’s locker room leadership after a victory over Cleveland State on Dec. 21.
“He’s as fine of a leader as I’ve been around in 26 years of coaching,” Kowalcyzk said.
Ohio needed overtime to defeat Toledo 95-90 at home on Feb. 1. Freshman guard Jonathan Williams will likely see extended minutes in Drummond’s absence. Toledo is currently 8-2 in the Mid-American Conference and 20-3 overall.
The Bobcats and Rockets tip-off their second meeting of the 2014 season in Savage Hall in Toledo on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
