Marietta Offense Goes Cold In Loss To Capital

The Marietta Pioneers, a team that has built a lot of momentum recently, traveled to Columbus Wednesday night to take on the Capital Crusaders. Even with momentum on their side, the Pioneers suffered a 75-55 drubbing at the hands of the Crusaders.
The Pioneers had just one lead throughout the entire night at the 16-minute mark when they led by one point.
Capital dominated Marietta in almost all phases of the game. Marietta, usually a strong shooting team, was held to 33 percent from the floor against Capital and just 13 percent from three.
The Crusaders were quite the opposite, however. Capital shot over 50 percent from the floor as a team and had three players in double digit scoring. Andrew Bolka led the crusaders with 14 points.
Marietta received a strong showing from RaNeal Ewing who had 12 points, but some of the usual leading scorers did not perform to their usual level. Brennan McKean has averaged 9.1 points per game the throughout the season, but was held scoreless tonight.
The Pioneers will not drop in the conference standings after this drubbing, but now trail Mount Union by two games. The Pioneers need to regroup on the offensive end of the floor quickly, as they hit the road to take on Baldwin Wallace on Saturday.
