The Marietta Pioneers lost their fourth straight game on Wednesday, as they fell 94-83 on the road against the Mount Union Purple Raiders. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 10-14 overall and 4-13 in the OAC.

The game started off slow and neither team could get a bucket until Raider Annie Bova hit a jump shot with 19:03 remaining in the first half. Marietta then went on a 11-6 run capped off by a Tori Dixon layup, two of her 22 points on the night.

The game looked like it would be a game of runs at first, as it started off with both teams going on mini runs. But once the teams settled in, it was all Mount Union. The Raiders took the lead with 10:30 left in the first half and did not trail the rest of the game.

Annie Bova was the key for the Raiders and finished with 15 points while shooting 60% from the field. She was a large part of the biggest run for the Raiders. They went on a 20-6 run late in the first half while Bova had eight of the 20 points.

Mount Union scored the first two baskets of the second half and took their first double-digit lead 53-42 with 13:00 minutes left in the game.

Then Marietta made it interesting. Led by senior Tori Dixon, the Pios went on an 11-0 run and tied the game with 11:15 to go. Despite the run, Mount Union's consistent offensive attack proved to be too much for Marietta to handle, as it ended up falling by 11 points.

Dixon was not the only play-maker for the Pios. Junior Jessica Brogan put up a career high 26 points. Dixon scored 22 points in a team high 39 minutes. Marietta was -3 in the turnover battle, which ultimately resulted in the loss.

Marietta hopes to cut down on the turnovers in its next contest, as the Pioneers travel to John Carroll University. The Pios had 19 turnovers a month ago as the Blue Streaks routed Marietta 88-65. Tip off is set for saturday February 22 at 3pm.
