Fire Official: Stewart Street Fire Suspicious
< < Back to fire-damages-stewart-street-homeFire officials say the fire that broke out in a house near Ohio University’s campus early Sunday morning is suspicious.
According to the Athens Fire Department the fire started at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at 68 Stewart St.
A spokesman with the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office said the cause of the fire at the 10-bedroom house is "undetermined and under investigation". Officials would not comment with further details.
Sunday morning, Jenny Hall-Jones, Ohio University's dean of students sent out this tweet:
Just stopped by a house on Stewart that had a fire last night. Thankful no-one was hurt. Reaching out to the students to provide support.

According to The Post newspaper OU is helping displaced students with temporary housing.
The Athens Fire Department and State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating the fire.
No one was hurt in the incident.
