Albin Leads Athens over Warren

Athens’ quarterback Treyce Albin was sidelined last year with a season-ending injury prior to the season opener. Albin stepped up in his first start to put on a show for the Athens Bulldogs (1-0) against the Warren Warriors (0-1) with a 41-0 victory.
He went 10-13 for 181-yards and three touchdowns. Ablin also added 30 yards rushing on six carries with one touchdown.
The bulldogs came out with intensity and were ready to play from the beginning. Albin connected with wide receiver Robert Dickleman the first play from scrimmage for a 60-yard gain.
A turnover on downs forced the Bulldogs to play defense but a quick three-and-out allowed the Athens offense to take over again and capitalize on another 25-yard connection from the Albin-Dickelman duo.
Dickelman finished the game with 108 receiving yards from three catches to add on to the Athens offense.
Once the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard, they weren’t finished. The defense was on lock-down mode only allowing the Warriors one first down in the first half.
With the loss of superstar running back Zacciah Saltzman, junior Tyler Roback filled the role as he we contributed to the Bulldog offense running for 68 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown.
The Bulldogs finished the game with 310 total yards of offense.
First year coach Tim Carver and the Warriors struggled the whole game and couldn’t get their offense going against the aggressive Bulldog defense, as they finished the game with only 52 yards of total offense.
Junior Quarterback Ronald Hill couldn’t seem to find any connections with his receivers and was stuck rushing the ball into the mighty D-line of Athens.
Next week, the Bulldogs will go on the road to Canal Winchester, and Warren is hoping to pick up their first win of the season in its home opener against Marietta.
