Dorsey Struggles As Texas State Tops Ohio In Extras

Texas State constantly pressured Ohio’s Savannah Jo Dorsey into mistakes. The sophomore pitcher gave up eight hits and all three runs in the game.
Texas State’s pressure paid off in the end as a two-run homer by Kortney Kroll brought Kendall Wiley across home plate giving Texas State a 3-1 advantage in the top of the eighth.
Although an Amanda Basquez hit would bring Alyssa Wolfe across home plate and give Ohio a consolation run, it wouldn’t be enough to stop the Bobcats’ three-game skid.
Lauren McClary started off pitching for Ohio (12-4) but after two innings, she was yanked for Dorsey despite throwing two strikeouts while allowing only a single hit.
Dorsey started the game a little nervy. Texas State’s Courtney Harris took advantage and drilled a homer to left field to give Texas State a 1-0 advantage.
Adrienne Gebele smacked a homer into the left center field stands to knot the game up at 1-1 at the bottom of the fifth. It was her 10th RBI of the season.
This was Dorsey’s third loss and she is now 9-3 while McClary holds steady with a 2-1 record.
Gulfport, Miss., hasn’t been kind to the ‘Cats as they have lost three straight in the southern air after entering the Classic 12-1.
