Penrod has officially been named the new head football coach of the Alexander Spartans.
Penrod took to Facebook to announce his decision to accept the new job offer.
“As I am expressing such heartfelt gratitude for the offered opportunity to be a Gallia Academy Blue Devil, I am equally grateful and excited to accept the earned opportunity to become the head football coach for the Alexander Spartans,” Penrod said in the post. “I am proud of my 8 years with you and your families. And with that pride, I am leaving one notable program excited for the earned opportunity to build another distinguished program.”
The Logan High School graduate served as the defensive coordinator for Gallia Academy from 2010-13 under former head coaches Mike Eddy and Wade Bartholomew.
Penrod also coached junior high and freshman football, varsity tennis, and served as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team for the past two seasons at Gallia Academy.
He will take over for former Alexander head coach Sean Arno who accumulated a 34-41 record over the past eight seasons. The Spartans finished 0-5 in the Tri-Valley Conference and posted a 1-9 overall record in 2013.
