Third Annual Athens Area Fiber Faire This Weekend
< < Back to third-annual-athens-area-fiber-faire-this-weekendThis weekend marks ARTS/West’s third annual Fiber Faire, which brings together fiber enthusiasts of all types to the Athens Community Center for two days of fiber arts classes, demonstrations and so much more.
In this installment of WOUB’s Conversations from Studio B, Robin Barnes speaks with Kelly Lawrence of ARTS/West and Nancy Baur, the Fiber Faire project coordinator, about the upcoming event.
The Fiber Faire is presented by ARTS/West, the Athens County Knitters, the City of Athens Arts, Parks, and Recreation Department, with additional support from the Holiday Inn Express of Athens; and will take place Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 2, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Athens Community Center, 701 E. State St.
This year’s event will features adult classes throughout the weekend on everything from knitting to tatting to crochet and much more. A highlight of the weekend will be a class taught by special guest artist Anne Hanson. Vendors hocking fiber arts related materials of all kinds will also be present at the event.
The documentary Yarn will be screened; live angora rabbits will be on hand for up close and personal examinations; various demonstrations of yarn techniques will be available for viewing, food vendors will be on hand for some fine chow to fuel fiber art observation and so much more.
