Standing Rock Benefit Show
October 28, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$10From 5 to 10pm, Friday, Oct. 28th, come on down to scenic Eclipse Town and enjoy a great evening of dinner and a show. Music by Michelle McGrath; Kay Carter; and the wireless ramblers. All ages are welcome. The $10 cover entirely benefits the work of Sacred Stone Camp, near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota. Over 250 Native American tribes have created the largest prayer and council encampment in over 100 years. Many vow to continue.
“Water Is Life!” say the Lakota (Sioux) grandmothers. Especially now with drought and global warming, they say, all remaining drinking water must be protected for future generations. The Standing Rock Sioux believe that to protect and pray for the water of the Missouri River–from assured oil pipeline contamination– is their duty to all life that follows us. Many believe US legislation and development procedures are wrong not to acknowledge that the Earth itself as well as it’s animals and elements have “rights” in and of themselves. Many in he world supports them. #NoDAPL
Two local trucks will be leaving Athens in the next few weeks. At the Benefit you can drop off your quality donations of extreme winter weather camping gear: especially things for wind and waterproofing–things like wool or down. No junk please. Thank You!
The Eclipse Company Store Beer Hall has great ambiance and is only two miles from Athens, right off the Adena HockHocking Bike Path. The hall itself will sell barbeque plates for $7 each, and pints of Craft beers for $6 at the cash bar. There will be a raffle of local items and services to benefit #NoDAPL. If you have something to donate (including for the raffle) or have questions please feel free to call me, Bluejay, at 706 928-9425. We hope to see you there. Only you can protect Water…
