Laugh To Keep From Crying: ‘Have You Seen My Mom’ Headed to Donkey
< < Back to laugh-to-keep-from-crying-have-you-seen-my-mother-headed-to-donkey-nov-12Psychological illness, abusive parents and suicide are all prime topics for Columbus-based stand-up comedians Brian Doney and Amber Falter. The duo, which aims to enlighten and empower audiences to openly discuss these dark topics, will be making their way all across the midwest over the next couple of weeks on their “Have You Seen My Mom” tour.
Doney has been making people laugh since his mid-teens, when he performed for the first time in front of his high school. Often armed with a plastic light saber and an onslaught of self-deprecating jokes, Doney is also the host and creator of the “What’s the Deal With Creativity?” podcast. Doney also recently released My Mom’s Dead, his first recorded effort, which captures his performance Columbus’ The Shrunken Head.
WOUB’s Emily Votaw spoke with Doney last week about the way in which he dealt with his own mother’s death, and how he met Falter, who’s mother also passed away.
On Nov. 12, the duo will be making a stop at Donkey Coffee at 7 p.m. Admittance is $4. Both conventional (Doney’s new CD) and unconventional merchandise (like vinyl stickers of headstones) will be on hand.
