< < Back to oupd-crime-alert-released-after-rape-reportedOhio University police have released a description for a suspect who allegedly raped a student in her dorm room.
Investigators were notified by the female, who is not named in the alert, on Tuesday at about 1:45 p.m. She said at about 2 a.m. she had been raped in her room in Sowle Hall.
“The victim reported she communicated with the male via Snapchat and later met with him at her room,” the alert stated. “She reported that after denying his sexual advances the male described above engaged in sexual conduct without consent.”
The crime alert was sent because the reported crime “may represent an ongoing threat to public safety,” according to the alert.
The male was described as a heavy set, college-aged white male, approximately 5 foot, 10 inches tall with blond hair and facial hair on his chin.
OUPD also released “personal safety reminders” with the alert, which included informing the public that sexual contact without consent is a crime and “social media is an ambiguous forum – don’t make assumptions about others’ intentions.”
Anyone with information about the alleged crime is encouraged to contact OUPD at (740) 593-1911.
