Three Bobcats Earn Conference Recognition

The Mid-American Conference announced their yearly awards on Wednesday. The Player of the Year went to Northern Illinois University’s Jenna Radtke, but Ohio University was able to compile some names on the list.
For starters, senior Mallory Sallis and junior Ali Lake were both named to the All-MAC First Team that included the 14 best players from within the conference. To go along with those two, junior Jaime Kosiorek was named one of the six All-MAC Honorable Mentions for this past regular season.
For Sallis and Lake, this is their first all-conference mention of their careers. For Kosiorek, this is her second mention of her career. She was named to the All-Freshmen Team in 2014.
All three led the Bobcats in kills and points during the regular season, with Sallis having 341 kills and being the team’s second leading scorer with 381.5 points and a team leading 3.97 points per set. For Kosiorek, she was the team’s leading scorer with 386 points and was second on the team with 336 kills and a 3.64 points per set ration.
Lake was third on the team with both points and kills with 301.0 points on the year and a 2.92 points per set ratio, as well as 241 kills.
These three where a major factor to the Bobcats going 15-13 overall and having an 11-5 record in conference, finishing second in the division behind rival Miami. Thanks to a great conference record, the team secured a three seed and first round bye in the conference tournament that starts Thurdsay, Nov. 17.
The Bobcats ended the last six games of the season going 4-2 with a key victory against conference foe Bowling Green.
The team will hope to continue its steady conference play as they will take on the winner of the Toldeo-Kent State matchup on Friday, Nov. 18 as they start their pursuit in hopes for their tenth MAC Championship in school history.
