Steve Gunn can do a lot with a guitar.

The Brooklyn-based musician has performed with the likes of Kurt Vile‘s The Violators, New York legend Ed Askew, acclaimed experimental folk rocker Mike Cooper, accomplished weirdo singer-songwriter Shawn David Mcmillen and many more.

In 2015, Gunn was signed to indie giant label Matador Records following the enormous success of his 2014 album, Way Out Weather.

After a whirlwind year of performances at major festivals around the globe and the release of his simultaneously joyful and contemplative Matador debut, Eyes On the Lines, Gunn is headed off on a 10-date January-long tour with Sonic Youth co-founder Lee Ranaldo.

WOUB’s Emily Votaw spoke with Gunn just a few days before he hits the road with Ranaldo for the tour, which will make a stop at Stuart’s Opera House on Jan. 18. Meg Baird of Heron Oblivion will open the 7:30 p.m. show.

Reserved seats are $17 advance and $22 at the door; box seats are $20 advance and $25 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit stuartsoperahouse.org.
