Former Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton signed a contract with the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats and said that he is excited to start his professional career.

“I figured it was a great start for me,” Tettleton said in a phone interview on Thursday. “I’m going to give it my all just like I did [at Ohio] and I’ll use everything I learned here to bring it to the table there.”

Tettleton finished his career in the Green and White with over 10,000 all-purpose yards, 82 touchdowns and 27 school records but said he attributes a majority of his individual accolades to the players he played with at Ohio.

“They are the ones that got me to where I am now,” Tettleton said. “I wish them nothing but the best and they have bright futures as well.”

Tettleton led Ohio to its first two bowl wins in program history in his sophomore and junior seasons, and helped lead the Bobcats to the Beef O’Brady’s Bowl during his senior season.

The former Bobcat standout also took a moment to discuss his thoughts on the new-look Ohio football team for next season.

“They’re going to have a lot of new faces across the board, especially on the offense,” Tettleton said. “It’ll be really interesting to see and I’m really excited to see what happens.”

Tettleton joins a Tiger-Cats team that finished as the CFL runners-up a season ago and jokes about the similarities in team mascots.

“I’m happy to stay in the cat family.”

The Tiger-Cats’ first game is Saturday June 14 against the Montreal Alouettes.
