The River Cities Symphony Orchestra 2017 Choral Concert
February 18, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$25The Mid-Ohio Valley’s hometown River Cities Symphony Orchestra is premiering an exciting new work by noted local composer and WV Public Radio host, Matt Jackfert, as part of its 2017 Choral Concert. Jackfert’s “The Thrice Holy” was adopted from an Eastern Orthodox Church choral service, and is being formed for the first time as an orchestral work.
“Many people say that my choral work sounds like orchestral writing, so I’m interested in seeing how this choral piece will translate to the string orchestra during this premiere”, said Jackfert. “I’m excited to hear River Cities bring this piece to life and to see how they do it.”
Matt is the radio host of All Things Considered on West Virginia Public Broadcasting, He wrote, recorded, and produced two well-known themes for West Virginia Public Broadcasting, and has composed symphonic works, film scores, and media music.
The symphony will also feature Gordon Jacob’s “Fantasia on Alleluia”, Beethoven’s 4th, and, in partnership with Marietta College’s Concert Choir under Dr Jay Dougherty, Brahm’s “Schicksalslied”.
