How long have you lived in Athens County?
I’ve lived in Athens a little over seven years. I moved here for family and a new job at the university.
What do you do for a living?
I am an IT specialist for the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University.
Many know you for your strong singing voice. What has been the highlight of your music career?
The highlight of my music career would have to be the time that I got to be the opening act for Fantasia Barrino, winner of American Idol 3. It was held at the Civic Center in Savannah, Ga. and there were tons of people. I got to sing two of my original songs and I had my own dancers. Big time! I was so nervous and excited at the same time. The show was a success and I’m thankful for the experience.
What music endeavors are you currently involved in?
Currently I am a part of a five-piece band called Mella. The band is made up of keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, keytar, and vocals. We are a cover band and we play a range of music from artists like Beyonce, Bruno Mars, The O’Jays, and The Black Keys, just to name a few. I am so lucky because I get to work with such a great group of guys who are all extremely talented. At our last show, we had a great turnout and people danced all night. So if you want to have a good time like our page on Facebook so that you can come check us out.
What do you love about Athens County?
The thing I love most about Athens County would have to be the people. I have met and become friends with some awesome people who truly know what it means to be a friend. Also, I love how you can walk down almost any street or go into any store and see someone you know. It’s a feeling of community and comfort. It’s Athens, Ohio!
