Soccer: Ohio gets routed from MAC Tournament

The Rockets routed Ohio 8-0, ending the Bobcats' season. After a fast start to the season, the Bobcats stumbled into the last seed in the MAC tournament. Its first test was Toledo, a team that was the top-seed in the tournament. The Rockets had beaten Ohio 2-0 early in the season.
The rout started early when Kristen Mattel scored in the 8th minute for Toledo, putting the Rockets up 1-0. Ohio fell behind 2-0 when Nicole Gyurgyik scored in the 25th minute. In the next 10 minutes, the Rockets were able to put the game out of reach with goals by Rachel MacLeod and Natalia Gaitan in the 33rd and 37th minutes to go ahead 4-0 in the first half.
The Bobcats finished the season with a 7-11-2 record. What was seemed to be a magical season in the beginning turned into disappointment as the Bobcats could not get the job done down the stretch.
Toledo's eight-goal differential is the highest margin of victory in the history of the MAC Tournament.
Sophomore Mattie Liston started in goal for Ohio and saved just two shots of the 23 that were launched at her.
Ohio loses eight seniors to graduation, including forward Toye Famodu, Rachael Philpot and Kelsey Pichel.
