Tough Test Ahead For RedStorm
< < Back to tough-test-ahead-redstormOn Wednesday, the Rio Grande Redstorm (27-14) will resume play after splitting a doubleheader on Monday with No. 8 Lindsey Wilson (38-6) against the second-ranked team in the Mid-South Conference in Georgetown College (25-11).
In a tough day at the plate for Rio against Lindsey Wilson, they only could get five hits between the two games. They will need to improve to have a chance against a team coming in with a team ERA of 2.37 and also gives up on average only five hits a game.
Leading the Tigers on the mound is Kayla Williams with an ERA of 1.70. Chelsea Riney leads the Tigers in offense with a batting average of .369. Riney also leads the team in stolen bases.
Georgetown College will also have a tough time at the plate, as they will face the Mid-South Conference’s pitcher of the week in Jenna Jones.
Jones is coming off a game one victory in the doubleheader with Lindsey Wilson. Jones gave up just one run on five hits with two strikeouts. Her overall ERA is 2.36.
Jones can also get it done at the plate. She is currently batting .310 and has a slugging percentage of .487. Those numbers have put Jones as the top batter on the team.
The first game is set to start at 1 p.m.
