Students and faculty at Ohio University took part in the nationwide “Academics United” rally.

The rally happened at more than 50 university campuses to show support for citizens of the seven countries affected by President Trump’s latest Executive Order, according to organizers.

The rally began at noon at Baker Student Center.

Protesters then made their way to College Green.

Students and faculty who spoke to the crowd, talked about how the ban affects their lives.

Ali Asghari Alib from the Iranian Student Society organized the rally in Athens.

He said the goal of the gathering was to send the OU administration a message.

“We need more support from Ohio University officials and we wanted to share our stories to the public. And I think we made it. So we look forward to university official’s statements, more stronger statements.”

Two weeks ago President Trump signed an Executive Order that forbids citizens of Iran and six other countries to enter or reenter the United States for 90 days.

Last week a federal judge from Seattle issued a nationwide restraining order and suspended this Executive Order. Today a federal appeals court panel has maintained a suspension of the Executive Order.
