Tyler W. Brown, 23, of Nelsonville, and Lisa M. Wisor, 39, of Albany, appeared in Athens County Common Pleas Court on Thursday to be sentenced on one count each of robbery, a second-degree felony.
Brown received a sentence of four years in prison and Wisor was sentenced to four years and six months. Brown is also subject to three years mandatory post-release control upon his release from prison and Wisor will face five years of community control and be required to complete a community-based correctional facility program after she leaves prison, according to a news release by the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office.
Both had already changed their pleas to guilty in a plea agreement with the prosecutor.
The two were charged based on a Jan. 20 incident in which they were found to “have, and admitted to, devising a plan to commit a robbery against a male victim in an attempt to take his prescription medications” and/or money, court documents stated.
The victim, a 41-year-old male from Glouster, met Wisor at the C&E True Value in The Plains and got in Wisor’s vehicle, according to previous Messenger reporting. While driving to Monk Road in Nelsonville, Wisor “pretended to have vehicle problems,” an Athens County Sheriff’s Office report stated.”
As the victim got out of the vehicle, Brown attacked him and sprayed Mace in the victim’s face before striking him.
The victim took Wisor’s vehicle back to The Plains and flagged down law enforcement. Deputies arrested Wisor when she returned to pick up the van and apprehended Brown later, according to the report.
Wisor accepted a plea agreement on March 21 that would terminate her judicial release on previous, unrelated cases. Brown accepted a plea agreement on March 25, in which the prosecution agreed to recommend a sentence of four years.
In her plea agreement, Wisor agreed to testify against Brown if the case were to continue to a trial.
