Screening The Film “13th”

FreeThe Southeast Ohio chapter of the national organization, Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) will show the 2016 film, 13th, at the Athens Public Library from 2-5pm. The film centers around the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which abolishes slavery, except in cases of criminal punishment. 13th has been praised by critics, and has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. A discussion on mass incarceration will follow the showing.
