Hocking College To Absorb Restaurant Responsibilities
< < Back to hocking-college-absorb-restaurant-responsibilitiesHocking College plans to absorb the operations of a campus restaurant in order to close a potential $1.2 million budget shortfall.
Hocking College spokeswoman Laura Alloway says the restaurant within the Inn at Hocking College was previously considered an auxiliary unit to the college with its own infrastructure.
The move will transfer the operations of the restaurant to the college's Culinary Arts and Hotel and Restaurant Management programs.
Alloway says it will cut 10 staff positions and some part-time positions, saving the college more than $320,000.
The Inn has been running at a loss to the college for the past two years.
Faculty and staff in the hospitality training program will construct the plan for how to include the restaurant operations into current curriculum.
