Strong Final Round Shoots Ohio Up Leaderboard
< < Back to strong-final-round-shoots-ohio-up-leaderboardOhio Men’s Golf put together a strong showing on Sunday to close out the 2017 Redhawk Invitational at Chamber’s Bay Golf Course, finishing 11th out of 18 teams.
The Bobcats found themselves in 15th place after spotty performances during Monday’s 36-hole round, posting team scores of 304 (+20) and 297 (+13) in the first and second rounds, respectively. During the final round they were a completely different team.
Ohio posted a tournament-best team score of 282 (+2) on Tuesday, an effort that moved Ohio up four spots in the final standings.
Fresh off a first place finish, Ohio’s Peyton White continued his hot stretch. The senior posted a score of 218 (+6) for the tournament and was Ohio’s highest finisher. Senior Tom Nettles recorded Ohio’s best round of the tournament with a 68 (-2) in the final round to help him tie for 51st with a total score of 225 (+13).
The Bobcats competed against host Seattle, Alabama State, Arkansas Little Rock, BYU, Campbell, DePaul, Grand Canyon, Iowa State, LMU, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Princeton, Sacred Heart, Santa Clara, Stetson, TCU and ULM. Iowa State bested Northwestern by one stroke with a combined team total of 853 (+5) to win the invitational. The Hawkeyes compiled round scores of 287 (+3), 285 (+1) and 281 (+1).
The Bobcats’ season comes to a close April 16-17 when they will compete in the Rutherford Intercollegiate held in State College, Penn.
