Zanesville Smashes Miami Trace

What started out so peaceful ended very, very, rough for the Miami Trace Panthers (0-5) in a 41-7 loss to Zanesville.
The Zanesville Blue Devils (2-3) started out slow with just one touchdown to begin the game and exploded with many more in the second quarter. Quarterback Ben Everson was the star of the night, being involved in almost every score the Blue Devils had. Everson found Blayze Taylor late in the first quarter to start the scoring. Everson carved up the Panther defense in the second, connecting with his brother Andrew for a 37-yard touchdown which extended the score to 13-0, Blue Devils.
As great as a performance Everson had he could not have done so without some backfield help. He set up fellow teammate, Caine Martin, with a screen play that was good for a 22-yard touchdown. Martin took over from there rushing in the next two touchdowns. One before the half to make it a 27-point lead, and one after the half to go up by 34.
Miami Trace did show some life as they got on the board late in the third quarter via a Caden Sweitzer touchdown. It would be too little too late as Everson squashed any hopes of a comeback by scoring his fourth touchdown of the game, just two minutes later.
Everson finished the game with four total touchdowns, three in the air and one on the ground. He also passed for 247 yards. Martin caught one, ran two and rushed for 149 yards. Thirty-one more than he had last week.
Once again Miami Trace struggled on defense. After giving up 401 yards last week, tonight they allowed 497 yards. Not only was Miami Trace hurt on the ground as they were last week, but this time the air attack was just as deadly, giving up 250 yards in the air and 247 on the ground.
Quarterback Tyler Taylor and receiver Brady Wallace led the Panther charge on offense with Taylor leading the passing attack with 88-yards and Wallace rushing for 95 yards.
When a team is unable to get some stops on defense and has trouble scoring on offense, it makes it hard to win some football games.
