Construction Update Set On West Virginia Rail-truck Hub
< < Back to construction-update-set-west-virginia-rail-truck-hubOfficials are planning to provide an update on the construction of a rail-truck facility in West Virginia.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and West Virginia Congressman Nick Rahall are scheduled to join Norfolk Southern and Wayne County economic development officials on Wednesday for a tour of the Heartland Intermodal Gateway in Prichard.
The facility is scheduled to be completed by December 2015. It is owned by the West Virginia Port Authority.
The Heartland Corridor is designed to move freight containers more efficiently between Columbus, Ohio, and the port in Norfolk, Va. Numerous railroad tunnels along the corridor have been raised to allow trains to carry double-stack containers.
