< < Back to oil-and-gas-producers-spend-millions-ohioA report from a national government watchdog group says oil and gas producers have spent nearly $3 million on lobbying and campaign contributions in Ohio over the last decade.
Gov. John Kasich benefited the most with $213,519 in contributions, followed by former Gov. Ted Strickland at $87,450 and Secretary of State Jon
Husted with $84,750.
The report comes from Common Cause, a national nonprofit focusing on money and ethics in government.
Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols says gas drilling is expected to create 200,000 jobs over the next four years and the governor has warned gas companies to play by Ohio's environmental rules.
Ohio Oil and Gas Association official Thomas Stewart defends his group, saying political contributions are a constitutional right.
