Preview: Southern looks to contain Trimble
< < Back to preview-southern-looks-contain-trimbleThe Trimble Tomcats (6-0, 4-0) will look to extend their regular season win streak to 25 when they travel to Racine to face the streaky Southern Tornadoes (3-3, 2-1).
The Tornadoes are coming off of a win 25-12 win over last place Federal Hocking while Trimble is fresh off of a convincing 42-0 win over second place Wahama.
Though Trimble’s win over Wahama was arguably its most important game of the season, Trimble head coach Phil Faires insisted that the Tomcats won’t be letting their guards down against the Tornadoes.
“They get caught looking ahead a lot but that won’t happen this week,” Faires said. “Southern lost a lot of players but their young players are getting better each week.”
The youthful Tornadoes will have their hands full on both sides of the ball. Austin Downs and Justice Jenkins have torched opposing defenses while Trimble’s defense has allowed only six points over the past three weeks.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Southern.
